2022 Ratings: The top universities for postgraduate study
The 2022 edition of our Australian university ratings have landed! If you’re in the process of choosing a uni for postgraduate study, these ratings can help you get to know your options. No two universities are the same, so finding the right one for you needs careful consideration.
Finding the right university and course for you comes down to doing plenty of research. Types of postgraduate degrees include:
Graduate certificates (or postgraduate certificates)
Graduate diplomas (or postgraduate diplomas)
Masters degrees
Doctoral degrees
Our postgraduate ratings provide insights across a range of 8 indicators, grouped into two categories: The Student Experience and Graduate Outcomes.
A combination of resources provided by the Department of Education, Skills & Employment are used to create these ratings, as well as graduate and student experience surveys in Australia. The results show that despite the challenges of Covid-19, universities have continued to serve students at a high standard.
Five-star universities for postgraduate study
The ‘overall experience’ rating looks at the proportion of students who were satisfied with the overall quality of their educational experience. A five-star rating means the university has fallen in the top 20% of all universities for this rating.

Note that these rankings are simply indicators that you can use to identify and shortlist the right universities to suit your own needs, preferences and circumstances. The Student Experience
For each category in this section, the percentage of students who were satisfied with the university’s performance in the area is noted. For example, if a university achieves 85% for Learner Engagement, this indicates that 85% of students felt they were engaged with learning in their institution.
