Ratings Review: The best universities for postgraduate study
Following the release of The Good Universities Guide 2020 Ratings is our first-ever batch of ratings at postgraduate level! This data reveals statistics and rankings of universities across Australia, allowing you to make informed decisions when selecting a university for postgraduate study.
These performance ratings and rankings are created using a combination of resources provided by the Department of Education, and graduate and student experience surveys in Australia.
The ratings are summarised in the table below, along with the top university in each category. Note that these rankings are simply indicators that you can use to identify and shortlist the right universities to suit your own needs, preferences and circumstances.

Postgraduate course ratings
The Good Universities Guide ratings also provide ratings for individual postgraduate university courses or fields of study — just click the ‘Course Ratings’ tab on this page. For example:
- The Graduate Salary category in psychology saw University of Sydney take first place with a median salary of $102,100, followed by Edith Cowan University with $96,500.
- Interested in Dentistry, and concerned with teaching quality? University of Newcastle ranked highest with 85.6%, followed by Curtin University with 82.8%.
- For the Skills development in law, Bond University finished first with 91% satisfaction, followed by University of Wolongong with 90.8%.
