The top five reasons for locking in an early uni offer at Macquarie
If you’re in Year 12 and you’re thinking about studying at uni next year, you might have already come across the terms ‘early offer’ or ‘early entry’.
But you might still be wondering what exactly early entry is, what’s so great about it and why a Macquarie early offer might be perfect for you. So, here’s the lowdown!
Your ATAR isn’t the be all and end all
While the ATAR is still the main selection tool we use at Macquarie, we recognise your ATAR might not be an accurate reflection of your potential. So, we assess your ability to succeed in your studies using criteria other than your ATAR. And if your achievements match up with our requirements, you might be eligible to receive an early offer through the Macquarie Leaders and Achievers Early Entry Scheme.
You get rewarded for your hard work
Our early entry scheme – MLA for short – allows you to be recognised and rewarded for your talents and achievements. As well as your Year 11 school results, we also look at how you’re demonstrating leadership skills, personal development and dedication to your extracurricular activities. This includes your commitment to sports, volunteering or casual work.
It’s an exam stress buster
We hear from students all the time that receiving an early offer greatly reduced their stress and allowed them to actually perform much better in their Year 12 exams. Without the constant worry of whether you’re going to get into uni, you can better focus on nailing your exams.
Your place is locked in
Once you receive an early offer from Macquarie, your spot in your dream degree is locked in as long as you complete all of your exams. But don’t stress if you’re still not 100 per cent sure about what you want to study – with MLA you can list up to five degrees.
Scholarships
What could possibly be better than an early uni offer? An early uni offer plus a scholarship! Each year we offer 20 scholarships to the most outstanding applicants – 10 to metro students and 10 to students in rural or regional NSW and the ACT.
