Free Résumé and Cover Letter Templates
Your CV or résumé provides a summary of your skills, education and experience. A résumé is often an employer’s first impression of you, so it’s important that it’s clearly written, neatly presented and error-free. Start with your contact details at the top, including your name, address, phone number and email address.
You can arrange your CV under the following headings:
- Education
- Employment history
- Skills
- Referees
Your résumé is a living document and should be updated as you gain new skills, experience and education. Make sure to have it proofread and checked for errors before sending to potential employers.
A CV or résumé can take many different forms. Some employers require a design-heavy CV with graphic elements, while for others a simple, single-page Word document will suffice.
A cover letter demonstrates to the employer why you are suitable for the role — it shows that you can and will do the job, and why you’ll be a good fit for the team. It’s their chance to get to know you before scheduling an interview.
Your cover letter should be adapted for every application to highlight your strengths relevant to the role.
