The Graduate Certificate of Food Systems and Gastronomy will provide an introduction to the theoretical underpinnings and conceptual frameworks to enable graduates to generate positive change within the food system. You will examine how food production, processing, distribution and consumption impact on ecological integrity and human health and wellbeing, and what political, economic and cultural forces shape food on its journey from paddock to plate. Students will apply their understanding of food production, distribution, policy and consumption to issues of contestation within the food system including social inequity, local economies and citizen health and wellbeing. Particular emphasis will be given to examining these issues through a gastronomic lens with a focus on historical, cultural, material and philosophical perspectives.
Standard entry requirements
Successful completion of a Bachelor Degree that is equivalent to AQF* level 7 in a related field (Hospitality, Tourism, Culinary or Hotel Management)
