This program forms part of a suite of postgraduate programs offered at UNSW Business School to meet the growing need and industry demand for specialist training in financial planning. It is designed to exceed the Australian Securities and Investment Commission's Regulatory Guide 146 (RG146) Tier 1 training requirements. The program enables professionals and industry practitioners to develop knowledge and skills not only in financial markets, financial planning, investment, and taxation law and strategies, but in compliance, risk management, ethical and professional conduct as well. A primary objective is to provide them with a solid foundation to advance in the career of and/or advanced study in personal financial and investment advisory.

Standard entry requirements
Bachelor degree or equivalent, with a credit average (65% or higher) as determined by the UNSW Postgraduate Coursework Entry Calculator, plus minimum of 2 years of full-time relevant work experience. Applicants need to provide a detailed resume (outlining relevant competencies and achievements) and evidence of other academic and professional qualifications.
Recognition
The Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning has been approved by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) as meeting the training requirements in relation to Regulatory Guide RG146 Tier 1.
Study pathways
Upon completion of the Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning, students achieving a credit average (65% or higher) may articulate into the Master of Financial Planning. Courses successfully completed are transferable to the Master of Financial Planning.
