This program has been designed, as part of a suite of financial planning programs, to meet the growing need and industry demand for specialist training in financial planning. The program offers professionals and industry practitioners the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in financial markets, financial products, financial planning, taxation law and strategies which are essential for personal financial management.

4 courses (24 UOC): At least 2 compulsory courses, plus 2 courses chosen either from the compulsory core or elective courses

Standard entry requirements
- Category A: A recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification), as determined by UNSW Business School plus 2 years' full-time relevant work experience
- OR Category B: 4 years of full-time relevant work experience plus completion of professional courses or studies (for applicants without an undergraduate degree).
Recognition
The Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning has been approved by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) as meeting the training requirements in relation to Regulatory Guide RG146 Tier 1. Due to course pre-requisites, students can only meet RG146 Tier 1 requirements when they study the program for two semesters.
Study pathways
Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate with a credit average (65% or higher) will allow articulation into the Master of Financial Planning. Courses successfully completed will be transferable to the Master of Financial Planning.
