Master of Information Technology (Advanced)
This course is designed to enable students to achieve a comprehensive and greater understanding of information technology in specialised technical or management areas for the IT professional. The wide range of specialisations allows students to tailor the course to satisfy and broaden their career development needs. It is essential to keep IT knowledge and skills up to date. This course provides students with an enhanced understanding of the business context and technical developments shaping contemporary information and communications technology (ICT), and equips them to meet the challenges of working in the IT industry with a view to providing a pathway into a research degree.

Structure
This course totals 96 credit points comprising three core subjects, five subjects making up a chosen major and eight subjects from the combined graduate project and elective choice block (CBK91060). The number of electives depends on whether students choose a 12-credit-point or 24-credit-point research project.

Entry requirements
- Students are required to apply directly for the Master of Information Technology or the Master of Information Technology (Extension) and then apply for a transfer into this course. Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies. The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0

Recognition
UTS will be seeking continuing accreditation of its information technology courses, including the new Master of Information Technology (Advanced), from the Australian Computer Society.
Study Pathways
This course is part of an articulated program of study comprising the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology, the Master of Information Technology, the Master of Science in Internetworking (Extension) and the Master of Information Technology. Students articulating of the graduate certificate or graduate diploma are typically eligible for advanced standing of 24 credit points. Students who have previously undertaken postgraduate study or completed an undergraduate degree in computing or information technology (or equivalent) at a university or other recognised tertiary education institutions may be eligible for up to 24 credit points of credit recognition of core subjects if the subjects previously completed are deemed by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology to be equivalent.
