This program provides a foundation for understanding the principles and practice of public health in Australia and globally. It encourages students to think broadly about the factors that affect health and wellbeing including social, environmental, cultural, economic, political and structural issues. The public health graduate program has been developed in close collaboration with industry. This ensures that teaching is linked closely into current policy and practice and builds on the networks that are essential to effective public health practice. This program is relevant to those who work within public health as well as those wanting to move into the field of public health. The graduate certificate comprises coursework and successful completion will provide the basic skills necessary to undertake research and coursework higher degree study.

Standard entry requirements
The College of Health and Medicine may accept as a candidate for the Graduate Certificate of Public Health a person who: a. Has completed an undergraduate degree from an Australian university, or AQF7 level or the equivalent standard in any other institution. International students must provide evidence of meeting the university’s English language requirements for public health courses.
