The School of Nursing, in collaboration with cooperating Health Care Agencies, aims to create an educational environment that values critical, reflective thinking, lifelong learning, acquisition of generic attributes, and professional development. The Graduate Diploma of Nursing specialization offers diverse specialties with course-specific objectives. The programs overarching goals are to enable students to work as registered nurses in specialized practice settings, develop advanced nursing knowledge and skills in their specialty, and enhance critical thinking and clinical decision-making. Additionally, the program encourages student interest and engagement in the professional growth of their discipline and develops their ability to communicate effectively with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Structure

Students will complete 100 credit points of study, comprised of a 50 credit point specialisation, and a further 50 credit points of study in related core and choice units.

Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants must have practiced as a Registered Nurse for at least six (6) months fulltime equivalence since graduation from a university program, prior to start of the Course.
  • Applicants must provide evidence of Ahpra registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse with no restrictions or conditions.
  • Midwives must have a nursing qualification to be eligible to apply.
