University of South Australia

We are delighted to announce a call for a PhD position in Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L) at the University of South Australia (UniSA). We are looking for 2 PhD scholarships in areas of Learning Analytics, Learning Sciences, and Human and Artificial Cognition (AI and Data Science), with an effective starting date to be negotiated. C3L Context The Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L) is based in the Teaching Innovation Unit. The primary purpose of the C3L is to pursue research that will facilitate and lead to the adoption of innovative education models that meet the needs of the future learner. The vision and mission of the C3L are to explore how digitisation impacts knowledge processes and institutions, changes how people work, generates economic growth, and enables a health society. Of particular focus is the intersections between human and artificial intelligence and how this relationship is evolving through the rise of cognitive technologies. The Centre will develop and coordinate research into the factors that influence creative knowledge skills across an individual's lifespan and apply the knowledge to new curricular models and novel industry applications. The C3L engages in research in collaboration with government and industry and will attract and secure partnerships with prestigious international universities and industry groups. The Centre aligns with the Division?s goal to achieve global recognition for quality research that has relevance and impact. To address its mission, C3L takes an integrative and interdisciplinary view of the education system and lifelong learning, focusing on factors such as personal well being, societal impact, economic prosperity, technological advancements, and their complex interplay. We envision successful candidates will explore how human and artificial cognition combine to solve complex problems in educational and workplace environments.
