Anne and Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship Program

Mr Gordon Samstag, of Florida, USA, was a former staff member of the South Australian School of Art. In his will he made provision for a trust fund to be set up to fund scholarships to enable Australian visual arts students to study overseas. The University of South Australia administers the Samstag scholarships which each year provide grants covering return fares, tuition fees, materials, equipment and reasonable living costs for 12 months with a possible 6-month extension for up to 10 Australian artists to study overseas.
Eligibility
Scholarships are available to graduates of not more than 5 years standing by 30 June in the year of application, of a studio-based program at an Australian institution of higher education. All applicants must be either Australian citizens or have permanent residency status, and be at least 18 years of age. Students currently overseas may apply provided they are otherwise eligible.
