The Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship (sponsored by Department of State Development) is a $5,000 scholarship open to *Aboriginal students who are enrolled full-time in the final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate program at the University of South Australia. Applicants must be a resident of South Australia at the time of application and expect to reside in South Australia during the term of the scholarship to satisfy the mentoring and/or in-kind assistance provisions of the scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements
The Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship (sponsored by Department of State Development) is a $5,000 scholarship open to *Aboriginal students who are enrolled full-time in the final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate program at the University of South Australia. Applicants must be a resident of South Australia at the time of application and expect to reside in South Australia during the term of the scholarship to satisfy the mentoring and/or in-kind assistance provisions of the scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of a personal written statement and a Curriculum Vitae (CV). The applicant's written statement should outline: - reasons for studying their current program - academic achievements - community service involvementPreference may be given to applicants who can demonstrate financial disadvantage and/or academic merit.Applicants undertaking studies in any of the following areas will be considered favourably: Commerce Management Economics Law Mathematics and Statistics Computer Science Information Technology Environmental Studies Engineering Urban and Regional Planning Construction Management and Economics Project Management Social Science Communication Aboriginal Studies The recipient will be offered six hours of informal mentoring or in-kind assistance by the Department of State. In addition, the recipient will be given the opportunity to network and build relationships with the Department staff by attending two functions. The recipient must have the ability to be a positive ambassador for the Department.Previous recipients of a Gavin Wanganeen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.*From here on in the term Aboriginal is inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
