The Master of Science (Data Analytics) provides students with the skills necessary for a career in data analytics, which involves data management, analysis, visualisation and interpretation as well as data-driven decision making. From a business perspective, the task of analysing performance and using those analyses to inform decisions about future actions has long played an important role in organisations and, in the past, it was often performed by people with accounting, finance or strategic planning skills. However, a number of trends - the growth of big data; increasingly complex organisations with more specialised functions; increased reporting, auditing, compliance and quality requirements; and more sophisticated analytical tools and techniques - has made data analysis both more important and more complex. Students will graduate with technical skills in the specific and highly sought-after area of data analytics.
