The volume of data is growing exponentially across the globe. A skilled workforce is needed to analyse, make sense of and undertake digital transformation using data analytics, visualisation, and big data. This includes such things as the manipulation and interpretation of data to assist decision making, improve operational efficiency, resource allocation, and engagement with stakeholders.The Diploma in Data Analytics prepares students for a range of career options in data analysis and technology-based fields and also provides them with a foundation for further studies associated with a Bachelor of Data Science, Bachelor of Business Analytics, or a Bachelor of Information Technology. Additionally, the Diploma provides opportunities for women and other mature-age students working in businesses and industry to move into STEM based fields.
Structure
- The Diploma in Data Analytics requires the completion of 80 units (made up of 8 courses worth 10 units each). The program is comprised of: 40 units of Core Courses
- 10 units of Directed A Courses
- 10 units of Directed B Courses
- 10 units of Directed C Courses
- 10 units of Electives
Standard entry requirements
The University of Newcastle accepts a range of qualifications to determine eligibility for admission. These include, but are not limited to, Australian or overseas senior secondary qualifications (such as the HSC), prior tertiary studies, prior TAFE/VET studies, vocational/professional experience, and completed enabling programs.To be considered for admission, applicants must have an unadjusted ATAR (or equivalent) of 50 or above.
