This combined degree program provides scope for study in both Music, Performing Arts, and the Arts. Students complete two degree awards over four years of full-time study (or part-time equivalent). The flexibility of this combined degree allows you: to develop skills in music theory technology, industry and collaboration, awa well as choosing to develop your creative passion and technical skills in areas of focus such as performance, songwriting, and production; and to gather skills that will prepare you for the work place and a wide variety of careers, with the flexibility to choose from a broad range of Arts majors and minors to match your specific interests, including pursuing themes and disciplines, gaining work experience, engaging with industry, and completing research projects. Students will complete a major in Music and Performing Arts, and a major in Arts, with the option to complete an Arts minor or complement their degree with elective choices.

Structure

  • The Bachelor of Music and Performing Arts/Bachelor of Arts requires students to successfully complete 320 units, which is comprised of: 70 units of Music and Performing Arts core courses
  • 30 units of Arts core courses
  • 10 units from the Work Integrated Learning course list
  • One 80 unit Music and Performing Arts Major
  • One 80 unit Arts Majorand either: 50 units of electives (including minimum of 20 units at 2000 or 3000 level)
  • OR 40 units of an Arts minor and 10 units of electives (elective must be 2000 or 3000 level)

Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants must meet one of the criteria below to meet the Admission Application requirement (step 1 above): Completed Year 12 studies - NSW HSC or equivalent qualification (there is no minimum Selection Rank requirement)
  • Or Completed, or partly completed, higher education studies (0.25FTE completed or greater)
  • Or TAFE/VET qualification, with a minimum of a completed Certificate II (AQF level 2)
  • Or Completed recognised enabling program
  • Or Overseas qualifications equivalent to Australian studies (International)
  • Or Post-secondary professional qualifications.

Study pathways

Credit may be available for previous study. Students wishing to become high school teachers can apply for entry to the Master of Teaching following the Bachelor degree. Honours is available in either Music or Arts as an additional year to meritorious students.
