The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Science combined degree is for those who are interested in understanding the world around us and how it works. Mechanical engineers design, manufacture and optimise specialist machines and processes. They solve important problems using robotics, new advanced materials, the fundamental laws of energy generation and transmission, and the computer control of physical systems from nano-to mega-tonne scale. You will learn from leading researchers who will guide you through a tailored program, specifically designed to give you the skills that employers are seeking. Structure
- The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Science is a five year program, students are required to complete 400 units, which is comprised of: 320 units of core courses
- 80 units of courses for the major, including: 70 units of compulsory courses
- and 10 units of directed courses.

Standard entry requirements
- Year 12 or equivalent. Alternative entry pathways may include approved TAFE studies, preparatory programs such as Newstep, Open Foundation or Tertiary Preparation Certificate. Assumed knowledge: HSC Mathematics (Band 5 or extension 1) or equivalent
- Study of one science-related subject would also be an advantage (physics preferred). Applicants who have achieved less than Mathematics Band 5 or have not completed a science-related subject may be admitted to the program but may need additional study and/or assistance to successfully complete the requirements of the program.

This degree program is accredited by Engineers Australia and other affiliated international organisations.
Study pathways
Credit transfer agreements with TAFE NSW and other education providers are under continuous negotiation. A Bachelor of Science (Honours) is also available to meritorious students, as an extra year of full-time or equivalent part-time study.
