This course will qualify you as a primary school teacher (Foundation/Pre-primary to Year 6) with a comprehensive understanding of childhood development and learning. Youll focus on the interface between play-based learning and intentional teaching, with a special emphasis on the skills children need in developing literacy and numeracy, and be introduced to the breadth of learning required of children including science, the humanities and social science, the arts, and health and physical education. There will be opportunities to practice your teaching skills in authentic settings throughout the course and in professional practice placements.

  • A bachelors degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognized by UWA and
  • The equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 60 percent and
  • At least one year of the bachelors degree relevant to one or more learning areas in the Primary school curriculum
