The associate degree gives students a firm foundation in both theoretical study and practical skills, with an emphasis on strong drafting skills as needed by the consulting industry. A typical study program includes: First year - construction engineering practice including white card, scaffolding, safe working at heights, engineering mathematics and mechanics, geotechnics, water infrastructure and drawing. Second year - civil, structural and building services drafting, structural analysis, project management and final year engineering project, as well as electives such as environmental engineering and water treatment. In small classes students will work on real-world examples and combined with the guaranteed work experience in the field they will develop the attributes needed to succeed in Australia's technology-based industries. The course offers work placement and industry-based final year projects.
