Certificate III in Animal Technology

TAFE NSW

This qualification is part of the Animal Care and Management Training Package. It is the industry qualification for people who operating at a junior or assistant level and undertaking animal technology functions within a biomedical research or production environment.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education. It is recommended that students undertaking this course be able to undertake workplace practice.

Structure:

18 units: 12 core; 6 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Work within an animal technology facility; Carry out institution containment and exclusion procedures; Prepare for and monitor anaesthesia in animals; Conduct non-surgical procedures on animals; Maintain and monitor animal health and wellbeing; Provide enrichment for animals; Plan for and provide nutritional requirements for animals; Carry out simple breeding procedures; Contribute to occupational health and safety processes; Provide basic care of rodents and rabbits; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices; Perform aseptic techniques. Plus electives.
