The National Marine Science Centre (NMSC) is located within walking distance to Charlesworth Bay, on the north side of the city and a short drive to the Coffs Harbour campus of the University. It is near the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Some second year and most third year marine science units are based at the NMSC, and normally run as intensive courses with a compulsory six-day on-campus period for all students. Coffs Harbour is a vibrant regional city on the Mid North Coast of NSW, with a population of about 70,000. It is a short drive to beautiful beaches and unspoilt wilderness environments.
