Our 5 day Novice Shearing and Woolhandling course provides an entry level occupation outcome into the wool harvesting sector. Our leading industry trainers provide one on one coaching and expert tips throughout the duration of the course to enable you to become employable in a commercial wool harvesting operation throughout Australia.The course is suitable for participants ranging from those new to the shearing industry to wool handlers looking to upskill. You will learn about a range of skills such as handling sheep for shearing, requirements specific to wool handling, clip preparation and wool pressing.Graduates are highly sought after by the wool harvesting industry to to the high level of training leading to excellent employment outcomes.

Structure

The course is delivered over 5 days, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm each day.6 units of competency are delivered within this course

Subjects

  • Subjects covered include: Work, Health and Safety, Animal Welfare, Preparation of combs and cutters, basic shearing techniques and board duties.

Standard entry requirements

Minimum age is 16 years, and you will require reasonable level of fitness to undertake this course.
