The Bachelor of Paramedic Science (Graduate Entry) offers a pathway for applicants with a bachelor degree. Students are awarded the equivalent of one year of advanced standing (credit) and complete the course in two years of full-time study. The course was Queensland’s first degree in paramedic science and our established partnerships ensure you will complete extensive placements with the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS). Your first placement begins at the end of your first year of study. Our staff are experienced paramedics and allied health professionals and will give you first-hand knowledge of the profession through case studies and personal experiences.On campus, you will learn in facilities that feature life-sized ambulance simulators, human patient simulators, and multi-casualty sites that imitate a building collapse, car accident or explosion. You will develop an appreciation of anatomical variability, pathology and effective medical communication with the opportunity to work with human donor material.

Standard entry requirements

  • You must have a completed recognised degree (or equivalent) in a medical science or health science field in 2014 or more recently. If you completed your degree earlier than 2014 you must provide evidence with your QTAC application of your graduate work experience and/or completed further studies in a medical science or health science gained in 2014 or more recently. Completed graduate diplomas, masters and/or doctorates are the accepted equivalents with a minimum volume of learning of 1.00 year full-time (or equivalent)
  • Assumed knowledge: Current Senior First Aid Certificate.

Further information

Current Senior First Aid certificate; plus requirements for QAS: criminal history check; health-related fitness assessment; Hepatitis B vaccination. Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Rubella, Tetanus and Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccinations are mandatory for all students attending a Queensland Health facility for placement. Hepatitis A, Influenza and Poliomyelitis are highly recommended for all Health students. QUT offers a range of scholarships that provide real support for commencing and continuing students.
