Combine film studies and law for a career as a director, media lawyer involved in copyright disputes or talent agreements, or film maker specialising in crime or legal content. You will graduate not only with advanced technical and creative skills, but also with highly developed legal knowledge you can apply within the film, screen and new media industries. You can also pursue a career as a barrister or solicitor in private practice, or to practise with large companies, in government agencies, or as a policy adviser. Through the combination of film, screen and new media with law, you will enhance your employability in your chosen field, whether in the legal fraternity or as a creative practitioner.This film course for the digital age provides flexibility and a broad range of practical industry skills while encouraging you to develop your skills in producing, writing, editing, sound, cinematography or directing. You will learn skills used in audio-visual media, gain business and leadership skills, and knowledge of how the entertainment industry works. Regardless of your chosen specialisation, this broad base of skills will make you attractive to employers, or set you up to better take control of your freelance career.
Structure
In order to complete this course, you must complete a total of 528 credit points made up of 192 credit points from the Bachelor of Fine Arts and 336 credit points from the Bachelor of Laws (Honours).

Recognition
Graduates satisfy the academic requirements for admission as a solicitor and/or barrister in all Australian states and territories. It is also recognised for admission purposes in West and East Malaysia, India, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
Study pathways
Pathways to the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, Master of Teaching (Secondary), or Master of Philosophy are available. Students may be able to claim advanced standing for part of their course, on the basis of completed or partially completed studies, and other assessable learning outcomes. QUT advanced standing rules apply.
