Bachelor of Information Technology / Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
Combining law and information technology (IT) puts you at the cutting edge of the growth area of legal issues arising from the advances of IT. This degree will give you the ability to practise law in light of the complex information and technology environments generated by manufacturers, data-processing consultancies, and private and government organisations. Alternatively, you can choose a career as a computing professional specialising in legal applications, information systems or security. As an IT student, you will receive comprehensive, work-integrated opportunities, giving you the confidence to explore a wide range of areas within IT and gain a deep understanding within your chosen specialty. You can major in computer science or information systems, with minors offered in human-computer interaction, intelligent systems, data-centric computing, networks and security, social technology, mobile applications, business process management, enterprise systems and programming.

Structure
Students are required to complete 528 credit points, comprised of 192 credit points for the Bachelor of Information Technology program and 336 credit points for the Bachelor of Laws program. Requirements for the completion of the Bachelor of Information Technology component are: 6 IT core units (72 credit points), 10 major core units (120 credit points)

Recognition
Australian Computer Society; Graduates satisfy the academic requirements for admission as a solicitor and/or barrister in all Australian states and territories. It is also recognised for admission purposes in West and East Malaysia, India, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
Study Pathways
Pathways to postgraduate degrees are available. QUT advanced standing rules apply. Before applying for admission as a legal practitioner in Australia, graduates must complete further practical legal training with an approved provider, for example the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at QUT.
