This double degree program in human services and business will prepare students for work in human service organisations that provide public, non-government and private services such as child and family, disability support and health services. Students may specialise in child and family services, disability services or services for young people. In the business degree, students can choose from accountancy, advertising, economics, finance, financial planning, human resource management, international business, management, marketing or public relations as a major.

Year 12 or equivalent; Assumed knowledge: English; Maths A, B or C for Accountancy, Economics, Finance, Financial planning and Marketing study areas

Structure:

384 credit points; Human Services component: 8 core human services units; 4 professional practice units; 4 human services electives; Business component: 8 core business units; 8 business major units. Accountancy major consists of 6 Business core units and 10 Accountancy major units.

Students may be able to claim credit for part of their course, on the basis of completed or partially completed studies, and other assessable learning outcomes.

Further information:

Students require a current Blue Card and may require Hepatitis B vaccination prior to commencing the placement components in this course. Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Rubella, Tetanus and Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccinations are mandatory for all students attending a Queensland Health facility for placement. Hepatitis A, Influenza and Poliomyelitis are highly recommended for all Health students. QUT offers a range of scholarships that provide real support for commencing and continuing students.
