This qualification is part of the Metal and Engineering Training Package. It is for people aiming at employment in the metal and engineering industry in occupations at engineering technician level carrying out tasks as engineering design and quality control/assurance monitoring. Students will gain compulsory competencies in organising and analysing information, interacting with computing technology and selecting engineering materials. They will also gain a range of elective competencies current or intended employment, such as CAD, drafting, quality control/assurance, basic fluid power, basic mechanical design, production scheduling, cost estimating and non-destructive testing.
