NIDA's Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Theatre and Stage Management) provides education and training to the technical theatre practitioners and stage managers of the future. The course focuses on the innovative and effective ways successful practitioners manage and integrate technical fields within live performance, film, television and event contexts. At its core, the course explores the opportunities for collaboration that occur when performance and technology intersect. A key feature is the broad range of knowledge and experience with which students engage during the course, preparing them to succeed in leadership roles that require creative, technical and managerial expertise across multiple technical fields. During the course, students are given the opportunity to experience a wide range of technical theatre and stage management roles as stage managers, technical managers, technical designers and crew on NIDA's many productions and projects, as well as through an industry placement.

Standard entry requirements
- Undergraduate applicants seeking admission must: have reached the age of 18 before the commencement of the course (in exceptional circumstances this may be waived)
- Hold a Higher School Certificate or its equivalent from any state or territory in Australia or overseas (in exceptional circumstances this may be waived)
- Be fluent in spoken and proficient in written English language (8.0 IELTS or equivalent for Acting, 7.0 IELTS or equivalent for all other BFA courses for international students)
- Complete the project requirements (please refer to the website for full details)
