This program covers educational and Montessori theory and philosophy, child development and teaching, study of curriculum practice and supervised teaching practice. Upon completion, students will have the skills, understanding and knowledge to work as a Montessori (or mainstream) teacher. Students are required to specialise in a specific age group: 3-6 or 6-12 years.

Structure

  • Offered primarily on an external study basis but cannot be completed fully externally. Attendance at 22 days face-to-face block workshop sessions is required to complete the qualification-offered over weekends and during school holidays. Theory and Practice Units: 750 hours
  • Curriculum workshops and assignments: 300 hours
  • Practice teaching: 455 hours, equivalent to 60 days or 12 weeks.
