The Master of Arts (Research Training) is a graduate research degree which can be undertaken following completion of a regular three-year undergraduate degree. It is also an appropriate entry point into graduate research for prospective candidates with extensive industry experience or non-traditional research outputs who may not meet the traditional PhD admission requirements. This course will provide students with the opportunity for more specialised, in-depth research training in a discipline or on an interdisciplinary topic. It will also provide opportunities to translate your research for a particular professional context.

Standard entry requirements

  • 3-year Bachelor's degree completed in the Faculty of Arts, Monash University, in a relevant discipline, including a 6 point research literacy unit ATS3222 Developing Research Literacy and a 6 point research capstone unit in the final year. Note: in order to undertake this 6 point Developing Research Literacy unit, students must do a pre- or co-requisite with a research capstone unit. Students must achieve a minimum 75% average in their majors, and 75% for the two research and discipline capstone units, or
  • A Bachelor's degree with at least Second Class Honours - Upper or its international equivalent, or
  • A combination of qualifications, research publications and/or at least two years of documented professional experience related to the field of study that may be assessed as equivalent to paragraph (2), or Another degree with a significant research/thesis component that may be assessed as equivalent to paragraph (2).
