Certificate III in Animal Technology

This qualification is part of the Animal Care and Management Training Package. It is the industry qualification for persons operating at a junior or assistant level and undertaking animal technology functions within a scientific environment. It is highly recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification, the learner should have access to an animal technology workplace through either paid employment or a period of work placement or work experience.

Australian: $6,550

Entry Requirements:

Access to relevant workplace; no minimum education; or Certificate II in Animal Studies; or mature age

Structure:

18 units: 12 core; 6 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Work within an animal technology facility; Carry out institution containment and exclusion procedures; Prepare for and monitor anaesthesia in animals; Conduct non-surgical procedures on animals; Maintain and monitor animal health and wellbeing; Provide enrichment for animals; Plan for and provide nutritional requirements for animals; Carry out simple breeding procedures; Contribute to OHS processes; Provide basic care of rodents and rabbits; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices; Perform aseptic techniques. Plus electives.
