With businesses looking to secure their systems and information, demand for security specialists and the higher adoption of wireless and cloud-based solutions is increasing. So MIT have added two new specialisations to the Bachelor of Networking - cyber security and cloud networking. Demand for computer networking professionals to design, build, maintain, support and protect computer networks is growing fast, as more and more people and businesses conduct their day-today activities and work over computer networks. This program, developed in consultation with the industry and based on international best practices, will prepare students for one of the fastest growing professions today. The course aims to provide students with broad-based knowledge and skills in IT and networking, as well as a deeper understanding of cyber security, cloud networks and system analysis. The course also emphasises the development of key employability skills such as communication, collaboration, problem solving and self-direction.

Structure

The program is made up of common core units, networking specialisation electives, business electives, and industry based projects. The common core units, which students will undertake throughout the program, will provide them with comprehensive knowledge and skills in IT and Computer Networking. The specialisation chosen in the third-year will provide students with discipline of network security, mobile technologies, enterprise networks or system analysis.

Study pathways

TAFE/VET graduates with a relevant 1.5 year Diploma may be eligible to receive up to 1 year credit transfer. TAFE graduates with a relevant 2 year Advanced Diploma could be eligible to receive up to 1.5 years credit transfer.
