Our nationally recognised Certificate III in Sterilisation Services is an appropriate baseline qualification for people who would like to work in sterilising facilities. It’s also suitable for staff involved in the preparation and sterilisation of reusable medical and surgical equipment or the preparation and sterilisation of textile packs for use in health care facilities.This training will equip you with the skills and knowledge to ensure you are compliant with the requirements of Australian Standards and provides safe, effective and efficient sterilising services. You will become thoroughly familiar with the concepts of microbiology, infection control, sterilising theory and practices.You will gain an understanding of the principles and practice of sterilisation in a health workplace. You will develop a comprehensive understanding of your role in workplace effectiveness including your ethical, legal and financial responsibilities as an employee.
Structure
To obtain the full HLT37015 - Certificate III in Sterilisation Services qualification, students must satisfactorily complete fourteen (14) units of competency. The course is made up of ten (10) core units and four (4) pre-selected elective units.This course takes approximately ten to twelve months to complete.The course includes both face to face and online learning, and 40 hours of work placement.Classes run 1 day a fortnight from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.

Standard entry requirements
Applicant must:•Be 18 years of age or over.•Attend a course information session at Mayfield Education. •Attend and complete a pre course assessment including a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LNN) robot on site at Mayfield Education.•Attend a pre training interview at Mayfield Education.•Have basic computer skills and access to a personal computer device including internet to enable connectivity with learning resources.•Have COVID 19 vaccination history.•Be able to provide the below checks within the first 8 weeks of the course:-A current and clear National Police Check-A current and clear Working with Children Check-Healthcare category A immunisation record including flu vaccination.
