The aim of this course is to prepare the student entering the healthcare industry to safely and effectively work with people who need assistance in the community and residential aged care facilities.The skills gained through this qualification enables care workers to follow an individualised care plan and provide person centred care and support.We can deliver this qualification or standalone units at your work site subject to the number of applicants at your site. Structure

Total number of units = 159 core units6 elective unitsThis course takes approximately ten to twelve months to complete.The delivery mode is comprised of face to face, online learning and 120 hours of work placement.Classes run 1 day a fortnight from 9.30am to 3.30pm.The course has 30 days of face-to-face training from 9.30 am to 3:30 pm

Standard entry requirements

Students entering the course must meet the required entry criteria, educational standards and administrative requirements as per Mayfield Education’s Student Entry and Administration Policy and Procedure.Applicants must:Be 18 years of age or over.Attend a course information session at Mayfield Education.Attend and complete a pre course assessment including a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LNN) robot on site at Mayfield Education.Attend a pre training interview at Mayfield Education.Have basic computer skills and access to a personal computer device including internet to enable connectivity with learning resources.Have COVID 19 vaccination history.Be able to provide the below checks within the first 8 weeks of the course:A current and clear National Police Check.A current and clear Working with Children Check.Healthcare category A immunisation record including flu vaccination. These are listed on the Department website.

Study pathways

Once successfully completed, this course leads to an entry to HLT54121-Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled Nursing), subject to meeting entry criteria.
