Students will learn from expert midwives in this degree that blends online learning with two-week intensive blocks on campus each trimester. Students will also take part in extensive clinical placements and weekly clinical tutorials with a clinical placement lecturer. Students will learn in midwifery laboratories that simulate the clinical environment and undertake midwifery clinical experience through professional practice placements in allocated health services involving morning, evening and night shifts. They will follow 20 women throughout their pregnancy, birth and the period six weeks after birth, requiring them to be on-call to attend the labour and birth. In the third year, students may choose to complete a rural or international clinical placement.

Duration 3 years full-time or 4 years progression (years 1 and 2 part-time and years 3 and 4 full-time) From 2019 all new students will be required to attend both Logan and Gold Coast campuses.

Recognition:

Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (via the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency) subject to meeting any additional requirements that may be stipulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
