Students complete one of two pathways in the course. The coursework pathway requires students to complete seven core (compulsory) topics and four or five option topics chosen from a range of option topics available. These topics aim to provide students with the opportunity to gain an advanced level of knowledge and skills to critical analyse evidence and theories regarding determinants of health, planning and evaluating public health approaches, work-related environments. The coursework and research pathway requires students to complete nine core (compulsory) topics and three option topics which aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills to critical analyse evidence and theories regarding determinants of health, planning and evaluating public health approaches, work-related environments whilst undertaking public health research activities such as a dissertation.
Structure
Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in a health-related fieldor hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification and no less than two-years full-time equivalent work experience in a public health related field.Applicants must provide details of their work experience in public health in their SATAC application.Applicants that do not hold a completed health-related qualification, or two years work experience in a public health related field should apply for the Master of Public Health (2 years) 2CM553.

Study pathways
The University may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, consider applicants who do not hold a bachelor degree or equivalent but can demonstrate relevant higher education study with relevant work experience, or relevant work experience which may meet the requirements for entry into the course.
