The Bachelor of Education (Secondary) is an initial teacher education degree that prepares students to teach in Middle and Senior Secondary School settings. Students will develop in-depth curriculum and pedagogy knowledge in teaching specialist areas aligned with state and national curriculum frameworks. The course provides a balance of education learning theory in two areas and will provide graduates with ability to teach two areas to senior years schooling.
Structure
Graduates will be able to teach their chosen junior secondary or secondary school subjects such as English, Drama, Health Education, Biology, Earth Sciences, Languages other than English, Information Technology, Business Education, Geography, History, Legal Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Society and Culture and Visual Arts. Some of these subject areas are only available to study as a major.
Standard entry requirements
This course can be applied for using Year 12, TAFE qualifications, the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), the Flinders Foundation Studies Program and Tertiary Transfer. Applicants must complete the Teaching Capabilities Statement used to demonstrate suitability for study and work in the teaching profession.
