Today, Mathematics plays an important role in the optimisation of industrial systems and is used in many fields, including technology, natural science, engineering, medicine, finance and the social sciences such as sociology and psychology. This Industrial Optimisation course is designed to provide students with the skills in mathematics, engineering and computing and to apply them to problems arising in business, industry and government. This course includes units in advanced calculus and linear algebra that provide foundation knowledge as well as units in modelling and optimisation, network design and analysis, logistics, supply chain networks, transportation networks, computational mathematics, statistics and probability. Industry-based units will help you to experience real applications. Graduates are well-equipped with the tools to address the key problems that need to be solved to improve the efficiency and productivity of business and industry.

Standard entry requirements

  • Completed year 12 in Australia or overseas in the past two years, or
  • Completed TAFE or VET studies in the past two years
  • Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study are those whose highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a VET course. This includes study at a public TAFE or other VET provider, whether a qualification was completed or not. Applicants with VET study may have other qualifications such as a Year 10 or Year 12 secondary school certificate
  • Applicants with higher education are those whose highest level of study since leaving secondary education is a higher education course, such as a university degree. This may include applicants who are currently studying a higher education course at another education provider and want to transfer to Curtin University, or applicants who are currently studying at Curtin but want to switch to a different course. It may also include applicants who have completed past study with university and non-university higher education providers.
