The Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning is a four-unit course which can be configured to include the three Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) approved bridging units and the capstone unit required to continue practice as a Financial Planner. The Graduate Certificate is appropriate for existing financial planners who hold a relevant degree to meet educations standards. In this course students will develop the capacity to identify, analyse and resolve general problems relating to professional practice in Financial Planning. Students will develop core knowledge and skills in relation to the theory and practice of financial planning, superannuation, retirement and investment planning, insurance and risk management, estate and taxation planning.

Standard entry requirements

  • Australian Bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification, in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Or a Diploma of Financial Planning, or equivalent, current registration as a certified practicing financial planner, and 5 years relevant work experience.

Recognition

Units studied in the Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning are accredited by Financial Advisers Standards and Ethics Agency (FASEA). This course is part of a set of postgraduate Financial Planning courses that are currently accredited with the Financial Planning Education Council (FPEC).

Study pathways

Advanced standing may be awarded to prospective students who have additional relevant experience in financial planning industry and who may have completed formal and informal training. Graduates of this course who wish to pursue professional accreditation should consider enroling in the Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning which is the minimum requirement for an accredited course.
