This course provides initial teacher education for those who wish to work in secondary school classroom settings (Qld Years 7-12), with a humanities focus. It has a distinctive Christian perspective and a strong emphasis on the practical aspects of teaching, combined with extensive study of educational foundations and theory. It seeks to develop reflective professional teachers who possess a well-defined understanding of teaching Christianly.

Structure

32 units (320 credit points). Students undertake 80 credit points in a major teaching area, and 40 credit points in a minor teaching area. The final year includes an internship.

Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants for whom English is not their first language must also satisfy English language requirements: documentary evidence of satisfactory completion within the past five years of senior secondary schooling or tertiary studies of at least two years (full time equivalent), conducted in the English language in an accepted country, or an overall score of 7.5 with minimum scores of 7.0 in Reading and Writing, and 8.0 for Listening and Speaking, in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test which is no more than 2 years old at the time of commencement at CHC
