The ANU Master of Public Health will equip students with the foundations of public health practice, provide students with an understanding of contemporary public health issues relevant to Australia and teaches students practical techniques for analysing public health problems. This program provides real experience in public health through core courses designed to give students the skills students need and electives that suit students' additional interests. Workplace-related learning can be readily incorporated for those who work in relevant public health jobs. This program will help students improve the population's mental and physical health through discovery, education and the translation of research into effective health policy and practice. ANU public health research covers areas such as non-communicable disease epidemiology, infectious disease surveillance and outbreak investigation, global health, health services research, social and cultural determinants of health, environmental health, healthy ageing and mental health.

  • Bachelor degree in Health, Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Psychology, Social sciences, of an acceptable standard or international equivalent with a GPA of 5.0/7.0
  • English language requirements
  • Students who have a combination of education and relevant experience in the health sector or a related area will also be considered

Study pathways

Applicants with a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 24 units (one semester) of credit. Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 48 units (one year) of credit. Students may chose to exit after completion of 24 units with a Graduate Certificate, or after 48 units with a Graduate Diploma.
