Find out with the Bachelor of Science (Psychology), which provides you with a great base in six different areas of psychology: developmental, social, personality, methods, cognition and biological. In your later year courses, you’ll apply this knowledge and your skills in more specialised areas such as neuroscience, counselling, health and organisational (business) psychology. Once you’ve completed your third year, you can apply to undertake an Honours year and pursue further postgraduate study. This will allow you to practice as a clinical psychologist.
Structure
The Bachelor of Science (Psychology) requires completion of 144 units, of which: A maximum of 60 units may come from completion of 1000-level courses.

Standard entry requirements
- Completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent, and the minimum Selection Rank (from their academic qualifications, plus any adjustment factors) requirement for this program. Previous higher education studies
- Or secondary education results if completed less than one full-time equivalent year (1.0 FTE) of a degree
- Or the result from a bridging or preparatory course. Previously completed VET qualifications at AQF level 5 or higher (i.e. a Diploma or above)
- Or secondary education results if the VET qualification is not completed.
Recognition
Honours graduates are eligible for Associate Membership of the Australian Psychological Society.
Study pathways
The BSc (Psych) is an ideal preparation for fourth year (Honours) and for further graduate study in psychology. It offers a firm scientific grounding in the discipline, which is the essential basis for both professional training (e.g. Graduate Diploma; Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology) and advanced research work (MPhil; PhD). Credit will be granted for equivalent studies as appropriate at other universities.
