Duties & Tasks of a Singer
A singer may perform the following tasks:
- Practice and rehearse songs
- Perform songs according to their interpretation and style of presentation or under the direction of a composer, conductor or recording engineer
- Sing in a group or individually on stage, radio, television or at an entertainment venue
- Enhance the dramatic effect of a performance with vocal expression, movement and dance
- Make or take part in recordings for sale
- Compose their own songs and vocal arrangements
- Practice singing and breathing exercises to improve their voices
- Perform with a musical instrument.
Working conditions for a Singer
Singers must be prepared to spend long periods in practice and rehearsal. They often work irregular hours, with many performances taking place in the evening and on weekends. Some work in areas unrelated to music to support themselves financially.
