Duties & Tasks of a Public Education Officer
Public education officers may perform the following tasks:
- Design and prepare education programs to suit the needs of different groups
- Design and prepare education programs to raise community awareness on different issues or the services of different organisations
- Lead educational tours
- Research special interest topics in their field
- Present topics in classroom settings
- Develop educational resources such as study books, pamphlets, videos, CD-ROMs, DVDs and website products
- Organise special guests, experts or other staff members to deliver education programs
- Promote the organisation or institution's education services to schools and community groups
- Provide support to teachers and other education professionals with the integration of special issues or topics into the school curriculum
- Talk to management, curators, scientists and other professionals to organise access to different areas of the institution or services
- Speak at teacher conferences and public events to educate participants about topics related to the work of museums, galleries, zoos or other institutions
- Run workshops at teacher conferences to promote the teaching and learning resources of the institution.
Working conditions for a Public Education Officer
