- Direct the formulation of human resource management strategies, policies and plans

- Develop and implement performance management systems to plan, appraise and improve individual and team performance
- Represent the organisation in negotiations with unions and employees to determine remuneration and other conditions of employment
- Oversee the maintenance of personnel records and various human resources information systems
- Coordinate occupational health and safety programs and practices, develop equal opportunity programs, and ensure compliance with related legislation

- Monitor employment costs and productivity levels
