This program offers experienced professionals and business owners the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge to become an entrepreneurial manager of either a new or established business. Students will learn how to deal with uncertainty, manage innovation and improve the business through the application of best practice methods of small business management and new product development. The program includes an analysis of students' own entrepreneurial capacities, the importance of small business, innovation and enterprise to the global economy, applied benchmarking of small business performance using diagnostic assessments, as well as the process of new product development and commercialisation via interactive workshops. The fundamentals of accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship and innovation, intellectual property management, and the operations of small business and technology commercialisation are also covered. This is a standalone qualification and can also serve as an entry point into the MBA Flexible (subject to students achieving a weighted average mark of 65).

Entry Requirements:

A UWA bachelor degree with a weighted average mark of at least 60% or equivalent and at least 3 years' relevant professional experience; or at least 8 years of relevant, documented, professional experience that in the opinion of the Faculty would permit the applicant to complete the course satisfactorily. Applicants who meet the 8 years eligibility criteria will be interviewed and assessed as suitable or not suitable based on 'demonstrated leadership potential' as determined by the Faculty and offers will be made to students who achieve a satisfactory interview.


4 units. Students complete 3 core units: Small Business Management, Management of Technology and Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Students also complete 1 of the following 2 options: Accounting, Marketing Principles.
