Doctor of Dental Medicine (dentistry)

Home to WA's only tertiary Dental School, UWA has trained future dentists for more than 70 years. Taught by dedicated staff in state-of-the-art facilities, Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) students are trained for full registration in the dental profession. Studies cover fundamental dental and medical sciences together with clinical practice modules including patient care, preventative and conservative dentistry, restorative dentistry, and child and adolescent dental health. There is early clinical contact from first year. Successful graduates will be able to register with the Dental Board of Australia as a dentist and enter the profession immediately.

International: $312,400

Entry Requirements:

UWA Bachelor degree or equivalent (GPA of 5.5) and minimum GAMSAT score of 50 overall and 50 in each section; OR a Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) score of 123/123/123/123 for international applicants; OR a Dental Aptitude Test (DAT); OR a place in a Direct Pathway into this course. Recommended: knowledge of Australian Year 12 Physics, 1st year university level Biology/Human Biology and Chemistry.


The course consists of a total of 32 units within modularised streams covering comprehensive clinical care, Developmental and Behavioural Sciences, Diagnostic and Surgical Sciences, Restorative and Rehabilitative Sciences.
