Whether you’re looking to embark on a career at sea or take the next step into the maritime industry, an Ocean Seafaring degree is the gateway to working aboard vessels around the globe. The Australian Maritime College’s Bachelor of Applied Science (Nautical Science) degree will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to safely manage and operate any type of vessel in the merchant fleet. Our program integrates professional short courses and training at sea so that you will not only obtain a Bachelor’s degree, but also a Certificate of Competency issued by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

Standard entry requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • Watchkeeper Deck, Mate/ Master, Chief Mate/Master with competencies. Applicants are ranked by ATAR and offers made based on the number of places available. This course has a Guaranteed ATAR of 65. In 2022, the lowest ATAR to receive an offer into this course was 74.30. The lowest ATAR to receive an offer may change from year to year based on the number of applications we receive.
