This program, by a combination of research and coursework, enables surgical trainees to complete their postgraduate degree in a minimum of one year of full-time study or two years part-time. It is designed to complement the practical experience obtained by students through the hospital based training program of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Graduates will acquire knowledge of epidemiological methods, biostatistics, literature searching and controlled trials for the clinical researcher, as well as an understanding of laboratory based methodology for those with a future interest in this academic surgical pursuit.

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS); plus registration as a Basic Surgical Trainee or Advanced Surgical Trainee of RACS; or FRACS


The embedded courses in this sequence are: Graduate Certificate; Graduate Diploma; Master. Providing candidates satisfy the admission requirements for each stage, a candidate may progress to the award of any of the courses in this sequence. Only the longest award completed will be conferred.
