This program is a practical, skill and knowledge-based degree that will allow students to learn more about geographical information systems or surveying. The program offers students the unique opportunity to finish the degree within three years while studying full-time. When students graduate with their Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology in Geographic Information Systems or Surveying, graduates will be eligible to apply for membership with the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute Australia. The Surveying major is accredited by the Surveyors Board of Queensland.

Entry Requirements:

Subject Pre-requisites: English (4,SA) or equivalent and Mathematics B (4,SA) or equivalent; English Language Proficiency requirements for Category 2.

Structure:

24 unit program comprising of Academic Courses plus Practice Courses. Academic courses are one-unit courses and involve approximately 155 hours of student workload per unit. Practice courses are zero unit courses and each involves approximately 50 hours of student workload.

The Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology is the middle step in an articulating suite of programs leading from the Associate Degree of Spatial Science to the Bachelor of Spatial Science (Honours) or Master of Spatial Science Technology.

Only the Surveying major is available on-campus at Springfield.

Recognition:

Surveyors Board of Queensland and recognised in every Australian state and in New Zealand through reciprocal arrangements. The degree, together with relevant industry experience, enables registration as a graduate surveyor with the Queensland Surveyors Board. The degree, together with relevant industry experience, enables registration and/or licensing as a professional mining surveyor with the Surveyors Boards of Queensland and New South Wales. The Spatial Science Institute has accredited both program majors and graduates are eligible for membership with the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute Australia.
